Stormwater Engineer/Planning Engineer Job Summary: Oversees implementation of Environmental Protection Agency requirements in regard to MS4 and NPDES and compiles and creates the annual report, communicates with member communities in the Summit County Surface Water Management District about EPA and County policies and requirements, and works with Summit Soil and Water Conservation District implementing the MS4 program. Assists with the Summit County Surface Water Management program. Responsibilities include development, implementation and oversight of: stormwater capital improvements, subdivision storm water facilities/assessed subdivision program, comprehensive watershed plans, stormwater system modeling, illicit discharge and detection, public education, data analysis, and reporting. Represents the department on issues related to stormwater. Additionally, helps with pre-project planning in both Surface Water and Road and Bridge divisions, may serve as a project manager on various infrastructure projects, identifies funding and writes grants and monitors state grant programs on behalf the County and townships, and liaises with outside planning and surface water agencies. Requirements: Must possess a valid Professional Engineers license in the state of Ohio OR hold one or more than one of the following:
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, hydrology, environmental science or related field. Experience planning and overseeing capital projects. Experience with review of emerging stormwater treatment technologies, including pollutant removal data interpretation, and maintenance requirements. Experience with stormwater characterization and application of stormwater treatment controls on a watershed basis. Proficiency in AutoCad, HECRAS, GIS, EXCEL and/or MSWord is desireable.
